For the third chapter of Moncler Curators, we spend the day with champion tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza in her home city of Madrid. Garbiñe selects pieces from the Moncler x adidas Originals collection to take her from daybreak to dusk.
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Garbiñe began playing tennis on the courts of Mampote at the young age of three, before moving to Spain with her family three years later. She rose to the top of the game to win some of the most coveted tournaments in tennis, namely Wimbledon and The French Open.
“I was very hungry to make something of myself. I wanted to be independent and earn respect.”
Drag to explore
MADRID MORNINGS
Since retiring from professional tennis, Garbiñe approaches mornings in Madrid with a relaxed attitude and an appreciation for a slower pace of life.
No longer confined to rigid routines or strict training schedules, Garbiñe takes her time with breakfast and works out if she feels like it.
“I’m very chill, I don’t have a specific routine. I’m enjoying life.”
CONCRETE HAVEN
In the afternoon, we head to an impressive concrete structure and architectural marvel. Inside, a sprawling space reveals a fully fledged tennis court. The venue's stark concrete walls create a unique backdrop, celebrating form and function: where tennis meets artistry.
Garbiñe trains in sports-lifestyle essentials from the Moncler x adidas Originals collection. “I think the collection is so fun. It obviously has sporty vibes, but it’s more elevated, so you feel like you are also kind of dressed up.”
SUNSET ROOFTOP
With a backdrop of red and blue hues melding in the twilight, this rooftop is the perfect spot to watch the day fade away.
